Royal Albert Hall was built in 1897 to honor Prince Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria. Since its inception, the Hall has seen a great number of musical events including the annual Summer Proms Concerts, which began in 1941, and is still an annual event today. The Hall is located in the Knightsbridge area in Westminster, London, England. It is one of England’s most distinguishing buildings and has been recognized around the world. Every year Royal Albert Hall hosts more than three-hundred-fifty concerts, award ceremonies and other events.

The Hall was originally planned to be titled the Central Hall of Arts and Sciences, but Queen Victoria had the name changed when the foundation stone was laid, as a dedication to her late husband. The Hall’s inside is oval shaped and measures 83 by 72 meters. This lavish building has been used for decades to host some of the most important events around the world, including the famous Last Night of the Proms when attendees release balloons and sing patriotic songs. The Hall today is primarily used to host live events. Bands such as The Beatles, The Who and Led Zeppelin have played in the Royal Albert Hall. In 1963, both The Beatles and The Rolling Stones shared a bill at the Hall. Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan have also played in this establishment as well as Cream.

Other venues that have graced the Hall include comedy shows, tennis tournaments and even a circus event at one time. Graduation ceremonies for students for Imperial College are also held there.
Tours for the Royal Albert Hall are given from ten in the morning until three-thirty in the afternoon on Friday through Tuesday. Tickets cost £6 for the tour, which is conducted in English. The tour typically lasts for around forty-five minutes.
